PARKERSBURG – Online networking can be a great way to keep in touch with old friends or share information with the click of a mouse.

But social networking Web sites have also made it easier for teens to participate in troublesome online activity, such as online bullying and posting inappropriate content to the web.

Guidance counselors from local high schools and middle schools have seen problems with cyber bullying in recent years.

“It’s constantly happening,” said Myla Kreinik, guidance counselor at Hamilton Middle School in Parkersburg. “Last year we had a number of issues with kids posting photos of their peers which they had manipulated or added hurtful comments to. It’s gotten so bad that some kids who have been victims of this kind of bullying don’t even want to come to school.”
