SOUTH HADLEY – An expert in suicide cautioned at Thursday night’s School Committee meeting that once there is high-profile suicide in a community, such as the apparent one of Phoebe Prince, there is the danger of copycat suicides.
The expert, Lawrence Berkowitz, director of Riverside Community Care, of Needham, told the approximately 40 people gathered at the meeting that there is a 1 to 5 percent chance of other suicides following such a tragedy.
