There’s a reason why nerds get bullied—and it has to do with their ability to pick up on and respond to nonverbal cues, says a new study.
Children or teens who have problems with at least three different areas of nonverbal communication are more likely to face social rejection, say researchers from Rush and Northwestern Universities. They include their ability to read nonverbal cues; understand their social meaning; and come up with options for resolving a social conflict.
